Introducing Dune & Moon!
Welcome to my new company, Dune & Moon! This company has been a long time in the making, and I’m so thrilled it’s finally here. Let me introduce you!
After my second child was born, I left my corporate job in public relations and took up my studies at New York School of Interior Design, following a passion that I’ve had since I was a child. Since that time, I’ve dabbled in various design projects, and turned my love for interiors into creating warm and inviting spaces for my friends and my own family. Still, l struggled with what part of the design process truly spoke to me and inspired me.
It was only after our last renovation of our current home, that I crystalized my point of view on my approach to design. I lived in complete and utter chaos with a dog, three kids and my husband for about a year. I was completely out of sorts and unhappy, constantly missing appointments and struggling to meet the simplest of deadlines and responsibilities for my family. The chaos of the renovation had seeped into every facet of my life and thrown us all off kilter. The most mundane task became a huge, complicated chore. Living through a renovation is an exaggerated form of chaos, but it occurred to me how difficult it was to get even the smallest things done when disorganization is present.
Around the same time, we had escaped the chaos to a blissful time on the beaches of Nantucket. I found myself on a sunrise morning run, completely contented, inspired and energized. I sat on the beach and tried to crystallize what it was that was creating that sense of peace, in an effort to bottle it inside me and bring it home with me and our family. Having spent our vacation in the simplest of cottages, with the most delicious food and ingredients available to us, surrounded by a few simple, well made home items, it crystalized: in an age where excess has taken hold, simplicity is truly the path to enlightened happiness. Simply put, a home can be beautiful on the outside, but the true joy and contentment a home brings comes from graciously appointing it from the inside out. The name jumped to me as I watched the moon fall away to the sunrise …. Dune & Moon. To me, it means living simply - day to night.
We live in a time when consumerism is at an all time high - inexpensive, mass-produced products clutter our cabinets, and essentially our lives. I firmly believe that a home that is devoid of clutter, organized and stocked with simple, well made products, is a home that truly creates a haven. It provides a backdrop for an enlightened existence, freeing us to enjoy the simplicity of the love of those around us, lessen anxiety and increase productivity. It’s my goal to help each of my clients achieve this harmony in their own homes and lives. I also believe starting down this path makes you a more conscious consumer and steward of our natural environment by creating mindfulness around your purchases and belongings.
Each journey and home is different, and I would be honored to help you get started down your own path.
